Prayers’ leader in Badakhshan arrested over ties with Taliban

FAIZABAD (SW) – A local prayers’ leader in Badakhshan province has been taken into custody on charges of collaborating with the terrorists.
Local officials in the province told Salam Watandar the man has been arrested from the seventh district of provincial capital, Faizabad, by the NDS forces.

Naik Mohammad Nazari, spokesman for the provincial governor, said the accused is named Mawlawi Noorul Hai, a resident of Darayem district. He said this prayers’ leader from a local mosque has been taken into custody for having ties with the Taliban.

The spokesman said the NDS forces have also confiscated arms and ammunition from the accused.
