KABUL (SW): The AFN 200 charged as postal service besides the AFN 5500 normal fee on each passport has irked a number of Kabul residents.
In conversation with Salam Watandar, a number of Kabul residents said this fee is unjust, and an additional burden on citizens acquiring passports.
Ahmad Wali, Murad Ahmad and Shafiullah, three such Kabul residents, said the government has compelled citizens to pay additional AFN 200 as postal charges, which is unfair. They said they are not aware about where and how this amount is spent. The Kabul citizens called for this fee to be waived off altogether, and more services provided to citizens.
In the meantime, Najibullah Nangyal, spokesman for the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology, has said so far up to AFN 800 million have been transparently added to the government kitty via postal fees collected along with the passport fee. He said up to 3000 passports are distributed to citizens via postal services in 16 districts of Kabul against AFN 200 on daily basis.
