JALALABAD (SW): Officials at the Nangarhar Chambers of Commerce and Industries have expressed their concerns about the condition of factories in Nangarhar saying that if their problems are not solved, a number of these factories will be closed.
Shir Alam Amlawal, head of Nangarhar’s Commerce and Industries, said today (Tuesday) at a news conference in Nangarhar that 273 different factories that have been operating in this province are facing security issues and lack of electricity.
Nangarhar province has 3 industrial parks with a total capacity of more than 1200 factories. Currently, 60 factories are operational at Shaikh Misri Industrial Park, however, the other two industrial parks have been inactive for a while.
Mr. Amlawal said that if the problems of insecurity and lack of energy are not solved, a number of other factories will also shut down.
A number of owners of the factories also said that they will stop their work if their problems are not solved.
Attaullah Khogyani, spokesperson for the governor of Nangarhar, has assured that the government will resolve the problems of insecurity and lack of electricity the soonest possible.
According to the Nangarhar Chambers of Commerce and Industries, in the current year, several factories acquired their licenses to operate; however, they did not start their operations due to insecurity and lack of energy, despite the fact that land has been allocated to them in the industrial parks.
