LASHKARGAH (AA): A policeman has killed 11 of his comrades in restive Helmand province before joining the Taliban.
According to Umar Zwak, spokesman for the provincial governor, the attack took place in the second police district of the provincial capital Lashkargah city last night. He told Salam Watandar the attacker shot his fellow policemen dead last night and then fled to join the Taliban.
That is all we know so far, we are conducting further investigations, he said. This attack comes as the Ministry of Interior (MoI) has been working on a reform program since last year to curb such attacks from recurring. The infiltrator who carried out the shooting was recently transferred to the Lashkargah city from the restive Musa Qala district of the province which briefly fell to the Taliban last year.
