PUL-I-KHUMRI (SW): A number of Afghan National Police (ANP) members have erected tents in harsh winter due to lack of proper check posts in the Baghlan province.
The provincial ANP officers have complained about the conditions of their outposts which were recaptured from Taliban in central Baghlan district 10 months ago. Talking to Salam Watandar, the policemen said they erected tents as outposts in this harsh winter to perform their duties despite the tough conditions and with few resources. They urged the government to pay attention to their ordeal.
Two such policemen Zabiullah and Juma Khan have said the Taliban exploit their vulnerabilities to attack them. “We cannot defend ourselves against bullets in the tents”, Khan said.
Meanwhile, Mohibullah, the district police chief, has criticized the local security leadership for the problems. He said the requisitions for more funds and resources have been sent to the higher authorities several times but to no avail.
Salam Watandar was not able to have comments from provincial police headquarters on the matter despite several attempts.
