ASADABAD (SW): Poets and other literary figures from across the country have gathered in Kunar for an evening of poetry for the traditional Kunar River Poetry Session.
Organisers of the evening informed Salam Watandar the aim behind this yearly poetry session is to keep the tradition of love for art alive besides underlining the importance of Kunar River in various aspects.
Mukhtar Israr, one of the poets, in his poem urged the top officials to strive towards best utilization of the Kunar River, particularly in regard to building a dam on it. Tayed Afghan, another poet, shared the national grief of the reoccurring losses of countrymen to the ragging violence. In his poem, Attaur Rehman, a Laghman-based poet, aspired for lasting peace across Afghanistan.
A number of poets lamented and criticized opportunist figures in the country preferring personal gains over national ones. The Kunar River Poetry Session also featured many poems dedicated to the spirit of love and friendship.
