KABUL (SW): The Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) has rejected reports about any communication with the Peshawar Zalmi about cricket series between the two.
Earlier, reports suggested Bollywood star Shahrukh Khan congratulated Peshawar Zalmi's owner Javed Afridi for winning the Pakistan Super League final that was played in Lahore on March 5.
Talking about his conversation with Khan, Afridi said, "Shahrukh congratulated me and suggested a T20 series between Kolkata Knight Riders and Peshawar Zalmi." According to the Dawn news, optimistic about the prospects of such a series Afridi added, "If the governments of both countries allow it, the matches can be played on a neutral venue like England or United Arab Emirates."
Shahrukh Khan owns the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), two time champions of the Indian Premier League. The KKR as well as Javed Afridi rejected the ‘rumors’.
Earlier, on Wednesday Afridi had accepted an invitation from Afghan President Ashraf Ghani's for the Zalmis to visit Kabul in the summer this year.
Hekmat Khalil Karzai, deputy Foreign Minister, congratulated him, and extended an invitation on behalf of the President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani. Karzai called Zalmi ‘Khpal’ (own) team. “We have accepted the invitation and the visit is expected in May,” Afridi told The Express Tribune. Javed Afridi said foreign players of the team will also travel to Afghanistan.
Afghan ambassador to Pakistan Omar Zakhilwal also congratulated the team
