PUL-I-ALAM (SW): Residents of Azra district in logar province have vowed to rise against insurgents.
The locals took this decision in a gathering with the district representatives, provincial council members, provincial deputy governor and security officials. The residents of Azra district have said that they will not allow any insurgent groups to fight against the government.
Esmatullah Alizai, provincial police chief, has said at least 200 locals have taken arms to fight insurgents. “These people are armed with the help of Ministry of Interior and the government is backing the people’s uprising”, added Alizai.
Sahib Khan, Logar’s representative in the Wolesi Jirga (lower house), said if people rise against insurgents in all the provinces, peace and stability shall come to the country.
The Azra district bordering Pakistan is considered one the most instable areas in Logar province.
