KABUL (SW): A peaceful protest rally by the ‘Movement for Change’ concluded here on Monday.
Hoisting pink colored-flags, the rally of cars marched on the main road leading to the Hamid Karzai International Airport where the security forces had placed barricades. The protesters once again made calls for the resignation of the President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani and Chief Executive Officer Abdullah Abdullah among other key officials. They charged the National Unity Government (NUG) leaders as 'ineffective'.
This comes over a month after a similar protest against 31 May’s deadly truck bombing turned violence resulting in death of at least six protesters. They also urged the government to bring the perpetrators of that incident to justice.
Monday’s protesters also urged upon the international community not to let the gains of the past many years in different segments of the society to go in vain.
