MAIDAN CITY (SW): Some 25 passengers on the Kabul-Bamyan highway have reportedly been kidnapped by the militants in the past 48 hours.
The provincial government in the central Maidan Wardak province has confirmed the incident. Abdul Rahman Mangal, spokesman for the provincial governor told Salam Watandar that abduction has taken place in the restive Jalrez district. Mangal added that two nomads have also been abducted by unknown men from the Behsud district late on Tuesday.
According to the provincial authorities, five abducted men have been liberated with the help of the local elders.
Locals in this province have been complaining about insecurity on this route for quite a while now.
