Parliament to write a letter to the UN against Pakistan

15/03/2017

KABUL (SW): Members of the Wolesi Jirga (lower house) on Wednesday vowed to write a complaint letter to the United Nations’ Security Council (UNSC) about Pakistan’s meddling in Afghanistan, cross-border shelling and providing sanctuaries for the terrorists.

Members of the parliament condemned Pakistan’s cross-border shelling, support to insurgent groups in Afghanistan and Islamabad’s interference in the domestic affairs of the country. They urged the house to pen a letter to the UNSC.

Abdul Rauf Ibrahimi, Speaker of the house, tasked a committee of the members to draft the letter. It was suggested to note that Pakistan has been supporting terrorist activities inside Afghanistan. It reads the terrorists have sanctuaries in Pakistan, and the country provides economic and military support to the terrorists.

Earlier, Mahmoud Saikal, permanent representative of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan to the United Nations, had officially complained to the UNSC about Pakistan’s cross-border shelling and interference of Pakistan in the affairs of Afghanistan.
