GARDEZ (SW): Officials in Paktia revealed on Sunday that the customs’ revenue in this southeastern province have increased by phenomenal 54 percent in comparison to the previous years.
Naqeeb Ahmad Attal, spokesman for the provincial governor told journalist that around afn 40 million were collected as customs’ revenue two months ago and that figure has soared to 84 million in June. He noted that this indicates a notable 54 percent rise.
The spokesman also said that the overall revenue has increased by 36 percent in comparison to the previous years. Attal said that this increase in revenue is due to better coordination among different public offices and not allowing goods carrier to evade taxes via side roads. He mentioned that the provincial government has shut all the secret roads that the commission mafia was using to help transporters evade custom taxes.
