SHEBERGHAN (SW) – Former generals of the Pakistan Army are leading militants in clashes with the security forces in Jawzjan province, officials said on Saturday.
In conversation with Salam Watandar, Abdul Wahid Wajdan, provincial police chief, said the presence of Pakistani generals in Jawzjan has caused surge in violence here. He said based on the recomnedatiosn of the Queeta Shura, the Pakistani soldiers are leading the insurgency here.
He said a Pakistani general named Shaikh Matiullah is leading the insurgency aimed at destroying projects of public welfare, killing of civilians and placing landmines.
Member of the provincial council, Amruddin Danishjo, echoed these concerns. He said the Pakistani soldiers have entered Jawzjan via Kandahar.
The growing unrest in the province has caused shockwaves all around. Two local residents, Abdul Maruf and Sidiqullah Sangin, said the Pakistani militants have entered Afghanistan to cause death and destruction.
The Taliban spokesman Zabehullah Mujahed discarded these allegations.
