Pakistani general and Yoldash’s son recruiting militants

SHEBERGHAN (SW) – Sher Ali, a local police commander in Jawzjan, has claimed the son of Taher Yuoldash and Sheikh Nadim, a Pakistani general, are busy gathering fighters for the Taliban in Darzaab and Qosh Tapa districts.

Gulbuddin Zahiri, a civil activist, has also warned about the presence of foreign fighters in these districts. If the government does not start an operations in these districts soon, security threats will spread to the center of Jawzjan province, he feared.

A well-placed official source in the district of, which does not want to be named, confirmed that Taher Yoldash's son, and Sheikh Nadim, a Pakistani general, have started their activities in the border areas of these districts.

But, Zabiullah Mujahid, a spokesman for the Taliban, has denied the presence of foreign fighters in their ranks.

Taher Yoldash was considered a major leader of the Uzbekistan Islamic Movement. He had fighters from the Uzbek, Tajik and Kyrgyz communities. He began his activities in 1990 and declared himself "Amir-e-Namangan" at the age of 24 in Uzbekistan, and was eventually killed in 2009 in Waziristan in a US drone strike.
