ASADABAD (SW): Officials in Kunar province have informed Pakistani forces have fired hundreds of mortars on mountainous Dangaam district.
Mohammad Rehman Danish, governor of Dangaam district, informed Salam Watandar more than 200 mortars have been fired since last evening. He informed these shells caused panic and destruction in Kachale, Sur Kamar and a number of other areas.
A local resident informed that the shelling continued through the night, and ended late in the morning. The locals informed the shelling have not inflicted casualties, but it has caused fear among the population.
The areas close to the Durand Line in eastern parts of Afghanistan have long been facing such a situation, but the latest shelling on Kunar has crossed all previous records of such shelling in a single night.
According to the officials, Pakistan fired more than six thousands shells on Kunar in the past ten years.
