ASADABAD (SW) – Indiscriminate shelling by Pakistani security forces on parts of Kunar province of Afghanistan have increased, officials said on Wednesday.
Gul Mohammad Bedar, deputy governor for Kunar, said the Pakistani forces have fired some 350 mortar shells on Marawara, Dangaam, Sarakanoo and Khas Kunar districts this year so far. The deputy governor said this shelling has forced hundreds of families to flee their homes.
According to residents of these districts, the shelling also inflicted human and material losses in the province. They urged the government to take urgent and effective steps towards putting an end to this deadly shelling by Pakistani troops from across the Durand Line.
They lamented that the government has done nothing against such brazen and indiscriminate shelling by the Pakistani forces.
