KABUL (SW): Deputy Foreign Minister, Hekmat Khalil Karzai, summoned the Ambassador of Pakistan to Kabul Sayed Ibrar Hussain on Thursday and expressed the protest and concerns in relation to the mortar and artillery shelling of Pakistani military forces over the Afghan territory along Durand line.

Recalling the attacks of Pakistani military forces on Afghan territory, Deputy Foreign Minister said: “in the last few days, Pakistani military forces have shelled 53 rounds of heavy weapons on Speen zhay, Dwa Khula, Chunchro Tangai, and Kamary Lakar areas of Nazyan District in Nangarhar Province, and Batash, Dolay Khor and Chogam areas of Naray and Sheigal Districts of Kunar Province that resulted in the martyrdom of three civilians including a woman and injured two civilians.”

Karzai noted that the continuity of such attacks was against the principles of good neighbourhood, international law and norms, and can significantly harm the friendly relations between the two nations.

Recalling the efforts by Afghanistan in improving bilateral relations and confidence building between the two countries,  Karzai termed the continuity of these attacks as violation of national sovereignty and territorial integrity of Afghanistan and asked for the immediate stoppage of these attacks.

“These attacks not only caused financial and physical losses to the people of Afghanistan, but also raised the concern, hatred, and protest of the people, national assembly and the government of Afghanistan that can affect the relations between the two countries”, the Deputy Foreign Minister added.

The Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to Kabul promised to convey these concerns to the authorities and relevant officials of his country.
