KABUL (SW): Expressing grim concerns over the abduction of a former Afghan governor in Islamabad, Afghanistan urged Pakistan to ensure safe release of the abducted politician.
It emerged on Friday that Fazalullah Wahidi, who served as governor of Kunar and Herat provinces in Afghanistan, has been kidnapped from Islamabad’s F-7 sector. The protocol officer at the Afghan embassy informed capital police of the kidnapping.
According to Dawn news, the former governor was living in F-7/2 and was with his grandson near Rana Market when two vehicles, one a black double cabin with a blue revolving light and the other a white Toyota Corolla, stopped by him. Three people got out of the cars and forced Mr Wahid into the double cabin before driving off. The former governor’s nephew, Syed Zabhiullah Wahidi, lodged a complaint at Kohsar police station.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) in Kabul urged Pakistan on Saturday to utilize all its resources to identify the kidnappers and release the Afghan politician.
