ASAB ABAD (SW): Violating international rules, Pakistani border forces have erected a number of border posts within Afghanistan’s eastern Kunar province across the Durand Line.
The locals told Salam Watandar that these new border posts have been established in Sarkani and Marawara districts.
Juma Khan, a local tribal elder in Sarakani district said that as many as 15 check posts have been recently established by Pakistani forces in the Balmazai village in this district on the edge of the Durand Line.
He added that the Pakistani forces have also occupied a number of water streams denying the locals to collect drinking water from there.
Jamaluddin Sayar, head of the provincial council has confirmed these reports. He told Salam Watandar that besides the Sarakani, the same has been practiced in Marawara district that is also situated on the edge of the Durand Line. He noted that the border posts have been erected in Balmazaisar, Pacho Kando, Saparai Sair and Murghakayo Topa areas.
Commenting on this, Abdul Habib Sayedkhail, the Provincial Police chief said that the Pakistani forces have crossed the Durand Line by some 500 meters. He noted that this was violation of international rules and regional norms.
It is vital to note that these far away districts of the eastern Kunar province have long been target of cross border shelling as well from Pakistan.
