ISLAMABAD (SW): In the aftermath of recent blast at the shrine of Lal Shahbaz Qalandar in Sindh, the government of Pakistan has decided to seal Torkham border crossing with Afghanistan for an indefinite period.
“The border crossing will stay closed till further notice and all kinds of trade and commercial activities will remain suspended,” the Dawn news quoted the officials saying. This comes a day after over 70 devotees died in a suicide attack at the shrine of Lal Shahbaz Qalandar.
Also on Friday, officials of the Afghan embassy in Islamabad were summoned to the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi to lodge protest against the alleged use of Afghan soil by terrorists to carry out attacks in Pakistan.
The Afghan officials were handed over a list of 76 "most wanted" terrorists by the Pakistan Army, DG Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Maj Gen Asif Ghafoor said in a Tweet. Afghanistan was asked to either take "immediate action" against the named terrorists or hand them over to Pakistan, he said.
