HERAT CITY (SW): Rahmatullah Raufi, Commander of Afghan Border Police (ABP) has blamed neighboring Pakistan for encroaching at least 15-km into the Afghan territory in the south eastern Paktika province.

Talking here Raufi said Pakistani Army has targeted restive areas of the Barmal district in Paktika. He said this on his arrival after a meeting with Iranian border officials in Taibad city.  The ABP Commander claimed there are concrete evidence available to prove that Pakistan’s encroachment beyond the Durand Line.

Raufi noted that this was not the first time Pakistan has committed this act, it was rather at its peak during Mujahidin and Taliban regimes in the late 1990s and early 2000. “There is evidence that proves Pakistan has incroached 15km inside Afghanistan’s territory.” He remarked.

Raufi said that Pakistan Army occupied the Angor Ada area in Barmal district simply because the area was first under the control of militants.

About his trip to Iran, he said an agreement has been reached with the Iranian border officials on prevention of border violations and efforts for cooperation between the border forces of both the countries.

According to Raufi, part of Afghanistan border with Iran is not under control of Afghanistan border police which has given smugglers the opportunity to smuggle human and drugs to Iran.

Raufi added Afghanistan and Iran would jointly tackle drug smuggling, human trafficking and terrorist activities in the border areas.
