PUL-I-KHUMRI (SW): Mahbubullah Ghafari, deputy head of the Baghlan provincial council, has said that it has been two days since over a hundred Afghan Local Police (ALP) men in check posts have been besieged by the militants in Baghlan-e-Jadid district.
He warned that if the government did not act immediately to break the siege, Taliban insurgents would hold them captive soon and cause havoc.
He said that the government has yet to take any action about it.
Mahmmud Haqmal, the spokesman for the governor in the province, said that it was not a serious issue. He said the security forces will do their best to send more equipment to the area in a bid to break the siege
Zarif Zair, a member of Baghlan provincial council, has said that as a result of military operation to break the siege, nearly 4 Afghan National Security Forces (ANSF)men have been killed.
Earlier this week, 78 soldiers were besieged by the militants in Surkh Kotal area for 9 days and the siege was only broken as a result of a special military operation conducted by the Afghan National Security Forces (ANSF).
