KABUL (SW): More than fifty per cent children in southern Nimroz province have never been to school.
The Central Statistics Organization (CSO) has published its initial findings of economic, social and demographic surveys of Nimroz province. Sher Mohammad Jamizada, acting head of the CSO, has said the survey indicates 19.5 per cent children in the province are enrolled in primary and 12.2 per cent children are enrolled in secondary school. This has been labeled as the lowest in the whole country.
Jamizada lamented that the CSO was not able to survey Khost and Paktia provinces due to insecurity.
Based on the survey, 58.2 per cent of Nimroz population are unemployed and only 41.8 per cent have employments. According to another section of the survey, 12.7 per cent of the population has access to clean drinking water which is lowest in the country, however, 78 per cent of the Nimroz population have access to sanitary toilets.
