KABUL (SW) – The Independent Election Complaint Commission has confirmed receiving some 2200 appeals in connection with the review of initial results of the presidential polls.
Mohammad Reza Fayaz, deputy spokesman for the IECC, told Salam Watandar the review of these appeals has also begun along with the lodging of the appeals. Without naming particular provinces, he said the volume of these appeals require intensive and time consuming review.
Earlier this month, IECC said it was working on strategy enabling the IEC to proceed with the recount of votes.
According to the IECC, the recount is needed at some 2938 polling stations in a number of provinces.
