KABUL (SW) – Officials at the Ministry of Urban Development Affairs said on Saturday more than 18,000 individuals involved in land-grabbing have been identified.
This was said at a press conference in connection with the government’s accountability drive.
Mohammad Jawad Paikar, interim minister for the MoUDA, said on the occasion a total of 18823 individuals involved in land-grabbing have been identified, and a list of 15831 such individuals has been shared with the legal institutions for follow-up. He said this list would be made public after consultation with the relevant offices.
The interim minister said more than 500 jeribs of land has been reclaimed in this while. The officials added efforts are underway to register irregular settlements in the Kabul, Jalalabad, Herat, Bamyan and Nili. It was announced proper legal documents of possession have been distributed to some 4000 people in these parts of the country so far.
It is planned to issue 500,000 such documents by the year 2020, officials said.
