KABUL (SW) – Ali Ahmad Osmani, the deposed minister for water and energy, on Sunday charged that due to the environment of fear and humiliation created by president Mohammad Ashraf Ghani, cabinet ministers preferred silence over sharing ideas.
In a presser here, the minister ousted from the post by the president, said the current regime has snatched the freedom even from top officials, and decency is not respected at all. He said many ministers refrain from sharing concepts and ideas due to fear of losing jobs.
Osmani said a dedicated group of advisers was established in the ministry of water and power to counter him, and interfere in his plans. He went on to claim plans were in place to impeach him via the Wolesi Jirga (lower house) prior to his termination by the president.
He called upon the international community to form a reputed body to counter corruption in Afghanistan.
We wished to have the views of the presidential palace, but to no avail.
