Operation launched to crack down on Daesh

NANGARHAR (SW): Shiring Aqa, spokesperson for the 201-Silab Corps, has said that the security forces in Nangarhar province have launched operation to crack down on Daesh group in Wazirtangi area of Khogyani district.

He informed that in the two days of operation so far, up to 5 villages in this district have been cleared. The spokesperson said that more than 10 Daesh fighters have been killed so far, and a number of them have been injured.

Attaullah Khogyani, spokesperson for the governor of Nangarhar, said in this regard that the special forces also took part in this operation. However, the residents in the area, have said Daesh militants have placed landmines in different areas of this district, and therefore people cannot return to their homes.

According to the tribal elders, the militants still control dozens of villages in this district.

The Taliban and Daesh militants engaged in deadly clashes in Wazirtangi area of Khogyani district about a month ago, which forced hundreds of families to leave their homes.
