Opening of the Exhibition for Rural Enterprises in Kabul

KABUL (SW): Dozens of rural businesses from five zones of the country, most of them women, exhibited rural products and handicrafts in Rural Market Exhibition in Kabul. This exhibition was commenced at Bagh Babur (Babur Garden) in Kabul and will continue for three days.  

In this exhibition products and manufactured goods such as carpets and rugs, food, decorative goods, agricultural products, jewelries, gemstones and other hand-made and industrial products of the countryside were showcased.

Mojib ul-Rahman Karimi, Acting Minister for the Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development, at the opening ceremony, said the launch of such exhibitions are valuable  and productive for marketing rural products, increasing the quality of products and creating business opportunities among rural and urban entrepreneurs.

According to Mr. Karimi, more than 100 rural business members from Herat, Balkh, Bamiyan, Parwan and Nangarhar provinces participated in this exhibition.

He said by setting up such exhibitions, the ministry wants to work for the improvement of economic situations and creation of employment opportunities in the villages to advance the livelihoods of villagers, especially women.

A number of exhibitors presenting their products at the fair also told Salam Watandar that the exhibition is helping them to market their products and increase the production of their goods.

 Afghanistan Rural Enterprise Development Program of the MRRD has launched 127 such exhibitions since its inception.
