One stop-shop for customs clearance inaugurated at Hamid Karzai International Airport

25/01/2018

KABUL (SW): The first One-Stop-Shop (OSS) for customs clearance, stationed at Kabul’s Hamid Karzai International Airport was inaugurated today (Thursday) by Abdullah Abdullah, the CEO of National Unity Government (NUG).

The establishment of a one-stop-shop for customs-clearance is very valuable for the private sector and is a major step in strengthening the export of Afghanistan and encouraging domestic producers, Abdullah Abdullah said.

The OSS is established with the assistance of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).

John Bass, the new US Ambassador to Afghanistan, said that the OSS will not only boost the exports but also will portray a positive image of Afghanistan to the world.

‘Afghanistan’s goods were previously smuggled, however, with the establishment of OSS, along with the good image of Afghanistan; the export of goods will also be increased’, Ambassador Bass added.

‘The establishment of OSS is one of the key elements of Afghanistan’s membership strategy in the World Trade Organization, which reduces the bureaucracy, accelerates the customs flow, alleviates the problems faced by exporters and increases the exports of goods’, Ambassador Bass further added.
