GHAZNI (SW): Officials at the ‘Ghazni School for the Deaf and the Blind’ have been charged with emblazing the funds set aside for transportation and expenses of the special students.
Mohammad Raza Zahin, a student of this school, and a member of the disabled peoples’ rights group in the province, told Salam Watandar the officials at this school are embezzling the funds allocated for the deaf and blind students.
According to Mr. Zahin, the funds set aside for each student at the school are about AFN 1800, however, the school pays only AFN 1200 for the blind, and AFN 500 for the deaf students. He said that the transportation money has not been paid to students at all.
Hafizullah Hussaini, another student at the school, said that they have not received their compensation which was initially promised to them. The student also talked about the ‘fake students’ and said that while there are no active students; however, the officials withdraw payments in the name of these imaginary students, and use the money for themselves.
Nisar Ahmad Azadzoi, deputy head of the Ghazni Directorate of Education, has rejected the claims of these students, saying that their compensation has been distributed transparently, and the school has not received any complaints.
Meanwhile, a number of members of the Ghazni Provincial Council and some officials of the school in a conversation with Salam Watandar accused some political parties of appointing their loyalists in the Ghazni Directorate of Education hindering the fight against corruption even further.
