Salam Watandar (Havana): U.S President Barack Obama landed in Cuba on Sunday and became the first American president to visit Cuba in nearly 88 years.
The President visited Cuba with his family and said at a staff gathering on his arrival in Havana, where he embarked on what he called a mission to "forge new agreements and commercial deals and build new ties”.
Obama will meet with President Raul Castro and both Presidents will attend a press conference.
It has been 54 years since the U.S has posed economic sanctions on Cuba.
Political experts believe that Obama’s visit will have positive effect on consolidating ties between the two countries and lifting the sanctions.
