KABUL (SW): The Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Industries (ACCI) in cooperation with the International Labor Organization (ILO) held a meeting in Kabul to review the employment situation.

The organizers of this meeting said that one of the other goals of the program was to eliminate the trade related problems in Afghanistan. Faizullah Zaki, Minister of Labor, Social Affairs, Martyrs and Disabled (MoLSAMD), said the ACCI and other relevant institutions should work more for the creation of job opportunities.

According to the World Bank’s statistics, nearly two million Afghan citizens are currently unemployed, and if employment opportunities are not provided to them, they could reach 4 million in the next five years, said Faizullah Zaki. The Minister added that the government has plans to prevent rising unemployment rate.

Faizullah Zaki said that he presented a plan for the creation of job opportunities to the President at a meeting on Monday, which could resolve the unemployment issue to an extent in the country if implemented.

Siyamudin Pasarlay, spokesperson for the ACCI, said that in order to create more employment opportunities, the private sector should be encouraged to increase investment in the country.
