KABUL (SW) – The National Statistics and Information Agency clarified on Wednesday that marking name of the holder on the ID card remains optional.
The NSIA head Ahmad Javed Rausli told a press conference that the holder’s mother name would only be marked on the identity card after consent. He further clarified those individuals who have obtained the ID cards without the name of their mothers marked on it need not to worry about renewing it.
The NSIA further said some 47 centers of the new biometric ID card distribution are functioning countrywide. According to Rasuli, the demand for the new cards is on the rise.
The distribution of the new biometric cards began two years ago with President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani becoming the first person to obtain a new card.
