KABUL (SW): The National Procurement Commission has approved 11 contracts worth afn 1.83 billion associated with various ministries.
The Arg (Presidential Palace) disclosed on Sunday that the commission’s meeting was chaired by the President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani last evening. It added that the contracts were associated with the ministries of Higher Education, Finance, Public Welfare, Anti-Narcotics, the National Directorate of Security, Da Afghanistan Breshna Shirkat and the Kabul Municipality.
According to the communiqué, some contracts were put on hold for further studies. Vice President Sarwar Danish, Chief Executive Abdullah Abdullah, ministers and other officials participated in the meeting.
Explaining the details, it added that the approved contracts were related to oil supply to the NDS and the Ministry of Finance, printing of passports, improving Maidan Wardak-Bamyan highway etc.
The President urged concerned authorities to ensure swift and transparent implementation of the projects. So far, the NPC has approved some 230 various contracts worth more than afn 45 billion. Following wide-spread allegations of fraud in the contracting system in the past, the President has vowed to strictly monitor the process.
