Notebooks promoting Pakistani military on sale in Khost

KHOST CITY (SW) – With the start of new academic year, note books with covers depicting Pakistani military leaders, arms and flags are seen in circulation in Khost province.

Khost residents fear this would encourage the children towards militancy and develop hatred towards their own country. They urged shopkeepers not to sale such harmful notebooks here.

There are slogans such as “long live Pakistan” and “our biggest enemy is that fighting against children” on the cover of these notebooks. Khost residents said this move is a deliberate attempt to encourage children towards insurgency.

Naseer Ahmad Roshan, head of the directorate of education, acknowledged the grimness of this issue, and demanded stern actions against the perpetrators. He said the security and intelligence authorities have been asked to nab those responsible for it.

When contacted, provincial police chief, Akhtar Mohammad Noorzay, told Salam Watandar investigations are underway, and soon the culprits would be brought to justice.

Prior to this, there were similar complaints and reports about foreign academic syllabus taught at different schools in some parts of Afghanistan. However, the directorate of education has clarified that only few additional subjects are taught at some private schools for the education and better learning of children.
