KABUL (SW) – The Independent Election Commission announced on Wednesday it cannot hold parliamentary polls for Ghazni together with the presidential elections later this year due to shortage of funds and time.
Hawa Alam Nuristani, chairperson for the IEC, told a press conference in this connection that the electoral commission is facing an upheaval task of holding presidential polls on Sep. 28. She said the IEC has not enough budget to hold parliamentary polls for Ghazni as well as provincial council elections with the presidential polls.
The IEC chairperson urged all presidential candidates to respect and uphold electoral rules and regulations. She said the biometric verification of voters would take place in the presidential elections.
