North Korea fires missile over Japan airspace

KABUL (SW): Reports indicate that North Korea for the first time launched a ballistic missile over the Japanese airspace.

Japanese authorities officially confirmed the incident of North Korea’s missile launch over the country. According to CNN, the missile was in flight for about 15 minutes, Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshihide Suga said at an emergency press conference. "There is no immediate report of the fallen objects and no damage to the ships and aircraft," he added.

Meanwhile, the Japanese authorities have advised citizens to take underground shelter or hide in safe places in case of emergency.  

Tuesday's launch is the first time North Korea has successfully fired a ballistic missile over Japan. 

North Korea’s arch rival South Korea has also reported that Pyongyang has launched a missile towards its border areas.
