HERAT CITY (SW): Atta Mohammad Noor, governor of Balkh and chief executive of the Jamiat-e-Islami party, while criticizing the National Unity Government (NUG) vowed to stand against any forceful moves against the public.
He said this during his visit to Herat where he addressed a gathering along with the former governor Ismael Khan. Noor said corruption is on the rise, the Presidential palace is involved in it that questions the credibility of the forthcoming elections.
He categorically called for reforms or dismantling of the current set-up. Noor called for dismantling the Independent Election Commission, bringing fundamental reforms and stern monitoring of the political parties in the elections.
On his term, Ismael Khan said that the failures of the NUG has risked the gains of many years that were earned with sacrifices of so many lives. He also questioned how is it possible to hold elections when large swaths of land is under the rebels’ control.
