KABUL (SW): Sources aware about the latest political development have said that Ata Mohammad Noor, the Chief Executive for Jamiat party has sidelined the Chief Executive Officer Abdullah Abdullah in power sharing negotiations with the Presidential palace.
A source has told Salam Watandar that negotiations for power sharing are underway between Noor and Arg (Presidential Palace).
According to the source, Jamiat party has concluded that Abdullah Abdullah lacks the capability to negotiate power sharing. A source close to Ata Mohammad Noor noted that, Jamiat’s Chief Executive is staying in the capital Kabul for this matter and the negotiations are about to be concluded in coming days.
The source predicted that the ongoing negotiations are likely to bear fruits and the President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani and the Jamiat’s Chief Executive would ink a new agreement after the talks are finalized.
According to the source, the new agreement would be bind parties to abide by the National Unity Government deal, bring reforms in various government offices, and ensure appointments in the government offices on legal basis.
According to another source close to Jamiat party, Ata Mohammad Noor is demanding balanced distribution of power, but he still supports Abdullah Abdullah in other affairs. The source added that in return to the assurance granted by Arg, Jamiat party would support the President Palace on national and international affairs. The sources noted that Salahuddin Rabani, the leader of Jamiat party, including several other ethnic Pashtun, Hazara and Uzbek leaders also have pronounced support for Ata Mohammad Noor.
Speaking in this regard, another source, who wished not to be named, told Salam Watandar that in a friendly gathering, Abdullah asked Noor to step aside from the ongoing negotiation but Noor proceeded with it. In reply to Abdullah’s plea, Noor said that the Chief Executive Office has not been able to present Jamiat’s case.
It is also said that Jamiat’s members, including Abdullah’s close associates, have pronounced support for party’s Chief Executive Noor.
Meanwhile, the Chief Executive Office has rejected these statements. Mujib-ul-Rahman Rahimi, the spokesperson the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), told Salam Watandar that Ata Mohammad Noor might have started negotiation with Arg as the Jamiat’s Chief Executive and the acting governor of Balkh, but the story that he has sidelined the CEO is baseless. Rahimi added that Noor is a key member of the CEO’s negotiation group.
