MAZAR-I-SHARIF (SW): The Independent Directorate of Local Governance (IDLG) has confirmed reinstatement of Atta Mohammad Noor as the governor for Balkh province in line with the directives of the President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani.
Munira Yusufzada, spokeswoman for the IDLG, told Salam Watandar President Ghani approved appointing Noor as the governor of Balkh on Monday. On conditions of anonymity, a close aide to Noor told Salam Watandar his appointment is in line with a political deal with the President.
Munir Farhard, provincial governor’s spokesman, has said talks are still taking place in regard to the finalization of political memorandum between the President and the Jamiat-e-Islami party led by the Foreign Minister Salahuddin and CEO Atta Mohammad Noor.
