KABUL (SW) – Nomination for the forthcoming presidential elections commenced here on Thursday.
Abdul Lateef Pidram today presented his credentials at the Independent Election Commission as one of the candidates. He was flanked by his proposed deputies Ehsanullah Haidari and Mohammad Musadeq Wardak.
Based on the Constitution, the nominee should be accompanied by his proposed deputies at the time of nomination.
Abdul Hakeem Tosan, another candidate, also filed the nomination papers alongside his proposed deputies Mohammad Nader Shah. He was not allowed to file nomination papers for not having second proposed deputy. He said his second deputy is Shafiullah Qaisari who is away for a funeral ceremony in Faryab province.
The IEC officials informed a total of 73 proposed candidates have obtained the information kit from the electoral commission. The nomination drive would continue till 20 January.
