KABUL (SW): There is no system for the capacity building of Afghan teachers at the Ministry of Education.
Sardar Mohammad Rahimi, the deputy ministry of literacy at the Ministry of Education, on the occasion of commemorating the International Teachers Day here in Kabul on Thursday, said no serious attentions have been paid to the teachers in the country. According to him, there are no mechanisms to empower teachers in the MoE's major strategies.
“There are around 220,000 teachers throughout the country. The Ministry is not able to provide proper benefits to the teachers because of the lack of accurate information provided by the heads of provincial education directorate”, informed Rahimi.
He blamed the government for the problems of the teachers.
Some teachers also complained that there are not paid on time which causes serious problems to them. According to these teachers, the government has not kept any of its promises.
The International Teachers Day is celebrating in Afghanistan as teachers are employed in schools with low wages on the verge of poverty.
