KABUL (SW) – The Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat has vowed Kabul residents would not face severe power outages during the forthcoming winter.
In conversation with Salam Watandar, Eng. Abdul Ahad Barakzai, head of DABS for Kabul, said the capital city has long been receiving 350 kilowatts of electricity, which is 40 per cent less than the daily demand. He said with the activation of additional power houses, this gap would be reduced to 30 per cent that would help overcome severe shortage of power during winter.
Eng. Barakzai added work is close to completion on new supply lines for imported electricity.
Abdul Wakeel Nasiri, operation manager for the DABS, has said work is underway on solar power supply to Kandahar, and soon the project would be replicated in Kabul as well. He added the solar power supply would also help overcome power shortage during winter.
This comes as the residents in Kabul have been suffering crippling power outages during winter when the demand increases.
