KABUL (SW) – The Interior Ministry on Monday issued a statement saying that no one would be allowed to disturb public order during the ‘Martyrs Week’.
According to the Interior Ministry, the commission, which was recently formed by the President, has ten members and is headed by Assadullah Khalid, the acting defense minister.
The Interior Ministry said in a statement that the use of government vehicles in the caravans celebrating the ‘Martyrs Week’ is prohibited and anyone violating the rule would be prosecuted.
The statement also said that no one except the security forces has the right to travel in military uniform and carry arms.
The Interior Ministry said that no one has the right to travel in vehicles with tinted glass and without documents or without the number plates.
The Ministry of Interior has emphasized that the formation of caravans that cause traffic jams is also prohibited. The statement added that security forces have been ordered to detain the perpetrators violating these rules.
The statement added that these decisions were made in coordination with the Ahmad Shah Massoud Foundation named after the national hero of the country.
Every year on the ‘18th of Subula’ (Solar Hijri) hundreds of people commemorate the martyrdom of Ahmad Shah Massoud, the national hero of the country, on the streets of the capital. This is the first time the government has set up a commission to regulate the event.
Every year, Massoud’s lovers come to the streets of the capital to form a caravan of cars and carry pictures of him with them.
