KABUL (SW): President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani has vowed no one would be allowed to interfere in electoral affairs.

He said this while addressing the inaugural session of the parliament after winter recess on Monday. Ghani said election is a national process, and the leadership of the government is committed to take stern legal actions against anyone interfering in it. “I announce it that I have no desire to interfere in this national process and would not allow anyone to interfere in this national process”, the President stressed.

He went on to say hurdles in the ways of holding parliamentary and district council elections have been removed. Ghani underlined Presidential elections would also take place on its due time.

Speaking on the occasion, Abdul Rauf Ibrahimi, speaker of the Wolesi Jirga (WJ), said delay in parliamentary and district council elections have led to mistrust among masses towards the government. He called for fair and transparent elections. “As a representative of the members of the national assembly, I once again call upon the government to ensure fair and trust worthy elections”, Ibrahimi noted.

Speaker of the house also urged the President to nominate new ministers to replace those unseated by the WJ in a vote of no confidence drive in November.
