KABUL (SW): Members of the Wolesi Jirga (lower house) on Saturday stressed upon the need for fair and complete usage of the development budget granted to various ministries.
Eklil Hakimi, the Minister of Finance, told the house that lack of budget is not a convincing excuse for not implementing the development projects.
Eklil Hakimi, while briefing the house, said that the Ministry is responsible for providing enough budgets for implementing the projects and no ministry can bring excuse saying lack of projects’ implementation was due to shortage of budget. He said that the Procurement Commission has no right to reject the development projects.
He added that by bringing reforms to the Procurement Commission, up to 40 percent of the projects referred to the commission have been up to the standard.
Niamatullah Ghafari, the Second Deputy Speaker at the WJ, said on Saturday in this regard that implementation process of the projects has become slow and from now on bringing excuse such as lack of budget would not be justified.
He said that if again any ministry bring excuses for not implementing the projects, it would be summoned along with the minister of finance.
