KABUL (SW) – Afghan government on Saturday declared wearing facial masks and keeping social distancing mandatory in the wake of upward trajectory of the novel coronavirus in the country.
The Emergency Situations Committee has finalized a new plan to regulate businesses in this peak stage of the pandemic.
The media office of the second vice president said in a press release that the three-month plan will be implemented from Sunday for three months.
Under the government's plan, masks are required in public places, two meters of social distancing is mandatory, gatherings of more than ten people are prohibited, elderly people are not advised to leave their homes, and disinfecting workplaces is a must.
It is also necessary to provide health facilities by service and production departments and institutions for employees and workers and to observe work shifts in government departments.
Under the plan, all educational institutions, including public and private schools and universities, will not be active in person for the next three months, but can continue to operate online.
If the situation improves before three months, the cabinet will decide to reopen the training centers, the newsletter said.
Wedding halls, sports halls, and amusement parks will remain closed for the next three months, and Fateha and other cultural and social events and gatherings will be banned.
The plan states that restaurants and cafes are only allowed to serve food to customers through delivery.
Under the plan, all private sector manufacturing and service companies and institutions can begin their operations by taking precautionary measures and taking proper care.
The Ministry of Health is obliged to implement this plan in cooperation with the relevant institutions throughout the country. In the provinces, the provincial emergency committees for the fight against corona are implementing the plan.
It is worth mentioning that the implementation of this plan is supervised by the High Supervisory Committee, which consists of the officials of the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Interior, the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs, the Independent Department of Local Government, the private sector and the leadership of Kabul province.
