KABUL (SW): Officials at the Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock (MAIL) have signed 17 irrigation projects with 17 private companies here on Sunday.

According to the Ministry authorities, the irrigation projects will be implemented in Kabul, Parwan and Logar provinces on more than 15 thousand hectares of lands. It is hoped these projects would help increase agricultural production by 20 per cent.

Abdul Qader Jawad, the administration and finance deputy at the MAIL, told a press conference on Sunday in Kabul that the irrigation projects worth 119 million afghanis will be implemented in Kabul, Parwan and Logar provinces of the country. “By using these irrigation networks, 40 per cent water wastage will be avoided, and there will be 15 per cent increase in the greenery in the country”, informed Jawad.

Abdul Qaher Rabbati, one of the members of the Irrigation Union, considered these projects as beneficial for the farmers. He further said residents of all the three provinces will be present to oversee the implementation of these projects.
