KABUL (SW): The Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock (MAIL) on Saturday inaugurated 32 new development projects worth AFN 313 million in eight different provinces.
Addressing a press conference in this connection, Naseer Ahmad Durrani, interim minister for MAIL, said these projects would lift agriculture in the country. As per these projects inked with the private firms, water supply systems in Baghlan, Samangan, Balkh, Parwan, Herat, Nangarhar, Kunar and Laghman provinces would be developed.
He added implementation of these projects would help stop 40 percent wastage of water, and bring up to 20 percent increase in agriculture products.
The contracting firms have assured the MAIL these projects would be completed in the due time and in line with the approved standards.
According to the MAIL officials, these projects would be completed in nine months’ time and help irrigate 7311 hectors of land in these eight provinces.
