KABUL (SW): Sarwar Danesh, the Second Vice President, briefing the parliament on Monday, said that a committee has been established for countering corruption that will work under direct supervision of the President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani.
Now the question is that how would the President, who is already monitoring several other committees, manages to deal with yet another committee?
Abdul Qayum Sajadi, a parliamentarian and political analyst, told Salam Watandar that the President does not have much confidence in the high-ranking officials, and therefore prefers to monitor most of the affairs himself.
He added that establishing procurement commission and a committee for countering corruption suggest that the President seeks to limit the influence of local influential persons and ensures decentralization.
He further said that Government of National Unity has no specific strategy for good governance, and this has led to the slow performances.
Mahiddin Mahdi, another MPs, however believes that it would be naïve to expect an overnight results from the committees that the President has established over the past year.
He acknowledged that the commissions established over the past 14 years have not been effective but he believed that the National Procurement Commission proved that the President has specific plans and goals in his mind for such committees.
Pointing out to the decentralization policy of the President, he added that establishing committees and commissions and steady monitoring would drastically lead to decentralization in the short term.
